What Height Should a Bedside Table Be?
A bedside table should sit level with the top of your mattress, or within about 5 cm of it, so you can reach items comfortably without looking down or reaching up.
This is the detail almost nobody checks before buying, and it is the one that decides whether the table feels right every night. Measure from the floor to the top of your mattress, not to the top of the bed frame, because mattress thickness varies a lot. For most Malaysian bed setups that figure lands between 55 and 65 cm, which is why our tables sit in that range. A tall pillow-top mattress can push it higher, and a low Japandi platform frame can bring it well below.

Its natural oils resist the humidity that swells and delaminates engineered board, and it holds drawer runners and fasteners firmly so the drawers keep sliding properly for years rather than months. Powder-coated aluminium bedside tables
Powder-coated aluminium is lighter, more modern in profile and completely weather resistant, which makes it the right pick for a balcony, a patio, a poolside cabana or a hotel room that needs furniture able to take constant handling. Arq Teak Wood 3-Drawer Bedside Table
Solid teak with a powder-coated mild steel base and three drawers, at W55 x D45 x H60 cm. This is the one to choose when storage matters, because three drawers hold everything that normally ends up scattered across a bedside surface: chargers, medication, reading glasses, remotes. The teak is designed by Samz Design and the steel base is built in house, which is what keeps it stable under daily use.
Sarah Teak Wood Bedside Table
Solid teak with two touch-open drawers, at 80 x 45 x 55 cm. The touch-open mechanism removes handles entirely, giving a cleaner front that suits modern and minimalist bedrooms. At 80 cm wide it is the most generous surface in the range, which makes it the better pick if you want a lamp, a book and a drink all sitting comfortably rather than competing for space.
Classic Teak Wood Bedside Table

Powder-coated aluminium tables can, and they are the right choice for balconies, patios and poolside areas because the baked-on coating resists moisture, sun and rust. Solid teak also handles outdoor conditions well thanks to its natural oils, though it will weather to a silver-grey patina unless oiled once or twice a year. What size bedside table suits a small bedroom?
In a compact condo bedroom, look for a narrow footprint or a round profile.
