Solid teak does none of these things, which is why it has been the reference timber for tropical furniture for over a hundred years and why every wardrobe in this collection starts from A-grade Indonesian teak rather than engineered board.

The wardrobes on this page are built one at a time. You choose the width, height, door layout and internal fitout, and we build it around the wall you actually have. That approach comes out of two decades of watching Malaysian homeowners try to make 900mm off-the-shelf bays fit 2.35m master bedroom walls, then live with the 45mm side gap forever. The Hilton is our flagship freestanding wardrobe: A-grade solid teak, generous internal volume, and enough hanging depth for full-length dresses and jubah without the shoulder bunch you get in shallow imported units. Standard size is 180 W x 50 D x 206 H cm, which fits a typical Klang Valley condo master bedroom without dominating the wall. Every dimension, the door count, the shelf-to-hanging ratio and the finish are open to customisation on request.

Why teak is the correct wardrobe timber for Malaysian homes

Teak is roughly 15 percent oil by mass in the heartwood. That is not marketing language, it is what makes teak stable at 80 percent RH when rubberwood and MDF are swelling. The oil resists water absorption, deters wood-boring insects, and lets you keep the wardrobe in an air-conditioned bedroom that dips to 22 degrees at night and rises to 30 degrees during the day without joints cracking from thermal cycling.

A-grade teak specifically means straight-grained, kiln-dried heartwood cut from mature trees, free of large knots and sapwood streaks. The wardrobe sitting in your Klang Valley bedroom is built to the same specification as the piece flying out to a Dubai villa.

Left untreated, teak develops a soft silver-grey patina that many Malaysian homeowners now prefer for a modern minimalist bedroom. Custom teak wardrobe design service

Most Malaysian bedrooms have at least one awkward measurement: a wall that is 2.35m in one corner and 2.45m in the other because of column deviation, a service duct that eats 200mm off one edge, a bay window, or a ceiling that steps down over the wardrobe run. Freestanding wardrobes cannot solve any of these. A built-to-order wardrobe can, and that is what our custom design service exists for.

The process is straightforward. We handle on-site measurement anywhere in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, or accept your dimensions and photos over WhatsApp if you are outstation. Within 3 to 5 working days you receive a 3D drawing and a fixed quote. Nothing is cut until you approve the door layout, handle profile, internal fitout and finish. Fabrication takes 4 to 6 weeks at our Subang workshop. Installation is one day for standard sizes, two to three days for walk-in wardrobes.

Planning your wardrobe: a two-decade shortcut

After twenty years of measuring Malaysian bedrooms, three patterns show up repeatedly. Read this before you commit to any wardrobe on this page or anywhere else.

Hanging inventory first, not door count. Count your longest hanging items today. Anything over 150 cm needs a dedicated tall bay with the middle shelf removed. Most Malaysian couples underestimate hanging space by 30 to 40 percent and then complain about creased shirts within six months.

Clearance in front of the wardrobe. A swing door needs 90 cm of clear floor space to open fully. A sliding door only needs 40 cm. If your bed sits closer than 90 cm to the wardrobe wall, sliding is not a preference, it is a requirement.

Ceiling height and dust. Klang Valley condo ceilings run 2.7 to 3.0 metres. A standard 206 cm wardrobe leaves a 60 to 90 cm gap on top that collects dust, becomes a lizard highway, and looks unfinished within a year. Full-height custom units eliminate this problem entirely, which is why they outsell freestanding units in our custom queue by roughly three to one.

Every wardrobe carries a 3-year structural warranty covering loose joints, hinge failure, drawer runner failure and manufacturing defects, described in full on our warranty page. If a component fails within warranty, we repair or replace it. How many wardrobe models are currently stocked?

Is the teak solid or veneer?
The Hilton frame and doors are solid A-grade teak. Large flat panels use teak veneer over a stable engineered core, which is the technically correct build for Malaysian humidity. Fully solid panels above a certain width will cup and warp over time regardless of quality, which is why no serious tropical furniture maker uses them. More detail on our materials page.

What is the lead time for a custom wardrobe?
4 to 6 weeks from deposit to installation, depending on finish, hardware and site access.

Can you build a walk-in wardrobe?
Yes, walk-in wardrobes are custom-only and require a site visit for accurate measurement. Site visits within Klang Valley are complimentary.
