The console table is the hardest-working narrow surface in the house. By the front door it catches keys, wallets, mail and the phone you almost walked out without. Behind the sofa it holds a lamp and a drink without eating into the walkway. Along a hallway it turns dead wall space into somewhere to display a mirror, a vase, or the photos guests see first. The catch is that most console tables come in one or two fixed widths, and your entryway is never quite that width.
At Samz Design, we build console tables from solid teak wood and powder-coated metal in our Shah Alam workshop, made to the exact length and height your space needs. Slim enough for a tight hallway, long enough to fill a feature wall, and finished to sit beautifully with the rest of your living room furniture.

Why a Console Table Is the Easiest Upgrade to a Room
A console table does something no other single piece manages: it makes a space feel finished with very little floor area. An empty entryway feels like nobody quite lives there yet. Add a slim console with a mirror above it and a tray on top, and the first thing anyone sees walking in looks considered and intentional.
Behind a sofa that floats in the middle of an open-plan room, a console table does the same job in reverse. It gives the back of the sofa a finished edge, adds a surface for lamps and drinks, and quietly separates the living zone from the walkway without building a wall. In the open-plan condos common across the Klang Valley, that kind of soft zoning is exactly what the space needs.
Why Teak and Metal, Not MDF
A console table lives in the busiest, most exposed spots in the home: beside a door that opens to outdoor humidity, along a hallway that catches every bump. That is the worst possible environment for MDF, which swells at the edges and chips at the corners with daily use. Our consoles are built from solid teak, which shrugs off humidity and only improves with age, or from powder-coated metal, where the finish is baked on and resists the scratches a busy entryway delivers. You can compare our materials and see which suits your space.
The result is a console that still looks sharp after years of keys tossed onto it, bags leaned against it, and a front door letting the outside air in every day.
Console Tables for Every Spot in the Home
Entryway and hallway consoles
A slim console, typically 30 to 40 cm deep, fits most Malaysian hallways without blocking the walkway. Pair it with a wall mirror above and a tray on top for keys and daily essentials, and your entryway does real work while looking the part.
Behind-sofa consoles
Sized to match the back height of your sofa, a console behind a floating sofa adds a lamp-and-drinks surface and defines the living zone in an open-plan room. We build these to your sofa’s exact dimensions so the proportions look right.
Display and feature consoles
Against a long feature wall, a console becomes a display surface for art, plants and objects. Here length matters most: a console that fills 60 to 70 percent of the wall looks intentional, while one that is too short looks lost. Custom sizing gets this right every time

Console Tables FAQs
What is the right height for a console table?
For an entryway console, around 80 to 90 cm works for most people, roughly waist height, so it is comfortable to drop keys and mail without bending. For a behind-sofa console, match the height to the back of your sofa, usually 75 to 85 cm, so the two lines sit level. Tell us your situation and we build to the right height.
How deep should a console table be for a narrow hallway?
For a standard Malaysian hallway, 30 to 40 cm deep is the sweet spot. It gives a usable surface without protruding into the walkway. If your hallway is especially narrow, we can build a custom console as shallow as 25 to 30 cm.
What is the difference between a console table and a side table?
A console table is long, narrow and tall, made to sit against a wall or behind a sofa. A side table is small and low, made to sit beside a chair or sofa at armrest height. They solve different problems, and many living rooms use both.
Can you build a console table to a custom length?
Yes, and it is our most common console request. Wall widths and hallways are never standard, so we build to your exact length, depth, height and finish. Send the measurements through our custom design service and we will quote it.
What should I put above a console table?
A mirror is the most popular choice for an entryway, since it bounces light and lets you check your look on the way out. Framed art or a set of prints works for a hallway or feature wall. Keep the top styled but not cluttered: a tray, a lamp or a vase, and a little breathing room.
Do you deliver console tables across Malaysia?
Yes, nationwide across Malaysia, plus international shipping to Singapore, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the UK and the US. Contact us for a delivery quote.
